Too much of a good thing...

...can make you sick!!

Okay, so I have officially eaten too many chocolate covered peanut butter rice krispy treats over the past couple days!

They are one of my favorite treats, which is why I try not to make them very often! But remember what I said about a clean pantry making me feel all domestic?! It was bound to happen...I had a June Cleaver moment and felt compelled to whip something up!

I had fully intended to put half out on the cake plate, while storing away half for our upcoming camping trip. Well, you know how it is, everyone dives in to them at first because they're new and all. So you dip into to the stash to cut a few more up. Then you realize that your cut is rather crooked, so you trim a little off to even it up, which of course heads right to your mouth - I mean, you certainly can't serve those scrappy little pieces! Then, before you know it, the amount you were planning on taking on the trip is trimmed away to nearly nothin' and you figure you might as well just go ahead and cut them up and put them on the plate too!

Then slowly, the nauseousness sets in and you realize you have in fact eaten WAY more of those little trimmings than you realized! Auughhhh! Take them away!!!!!

For those who feel a bit more in control than I, here is the recipe for the best rice krispy treats in the whole world!!!

Melt 45-50 large marshmallows with 1/4 cup of butter, then mix in 1/2 cup of peanut butter.
Slowly add in 5 cups of rice krispies and place in buttered cake pan.

Melt 6 oz of both chocolate chips and butterscotch chips together, then spread evenly over top of rice krispies. Let cool in refrigerator. Cut and enjoy!

enjoy the trimmings! Ah, come on...I can't be the ONLY one who does it!

This is so timely...my hubby just got home from a business trip last night and I want to do something special for him. He LOVES peanut butter rice crispy treats with melted chocolate on them...but I have only made then once...and didn't get it right. (I didn't have any idea how to do it, so I just guessed. I think I overheated the chocolate chips because they went from a nice smooth liquid to a pasty mess. I am off to the store right now to pick up the supplies to try again today. Thanks for the inspiration! Yum...
