Sometimes...

...the weirdest, little things strike me and I feel compelled to ask why they are the way they are.
For example: why do cake decorator's feel the need to embellish carrot cake with puffy, little, orange carrots?!
I'll know it's carrot cake by reading the label! I'm pretty smart that way.

Is it their way of stamping it with an un-official "Healthy Cake Seal of Approval" by adorning it with little frosting vegetables?

When I want to eat cake, I want to eat CAKE!

Yeah, I sometimes reach for a carrot cake because in my own mind I feel like it *might* have a little extra nutritional value, but lets face it...none of my diet programs have promoted this vegetable-bearing cake as a part of it's weight loss regimen! So it isn't as though I'm grabbing it because Dr. Phil and Bob Greene say it's okay!

I just like carrot cake! And I want to be able to serve it at birthdays and special events without having to add carrots into my themed decor! I want a grown-up looking cake that doesn't make me think of the Easter bunny every time I eat it! Is that too much to ask?!

Okay, Bakers of America...any retorts?

enjoy the wonderful goodness of carrot cake...well, after you've picked out the raisins, of course!

Mmmm - carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Now I want some - thanks a lot. I don't like when food is decorated in a very pretty way - it makes me feel guilty cutting it all up - like it's a shame to eat it.

LOL! You crack me up! No it's not healthy at all, but it tastes mighty fine, so yes I eat it and yes i pick out the nasty raisins. LOL! My suggestion would be, next time you go to buy a carrot cake, order it a few days early instead of picking up one that's there so you can request no little frosting carrots. :o)
Darned if I'm not in the mood for a big piece of carrot cake with cream cheese frosting! yummmm!
